The Bywater is a portion of New Orleans down the Mississippi River from the French Quarter and the Marigny. It is bounded by St. Claude Ave. to the North, the Industrial Canal to the East, Press St. to the West and the Mississippi River to the South and is also known as "The Upper Ninth Ward."
The Bywater is a very eclectic neighborhood quaint and Old World. Mainly made up of residential however let it be no surprise to find a neighborhood bar or restaurant tucked away in the many homes. Its residents consist of a very diverse group of artists, writers and musicians to name a few. Many people relocated here when the French Quarter and the Marigny became too pricey.
If you are looking for that quaint laid back atmosphere and to step back a moment in time the Bywater is a place you won't want to miss.
